Getting midi input but no output?

I am using a Yamaha YPG-625 keyboard as a midi controller. When I press keys on the keyboard in live, I can see the light come on that says that Live is receiving recognizable MIDI input. However, when I arm the MIDI track I am not hearing anything back.

Can anyone help me with this?

What sort of Virtual Instrument is on that MIDI channel? MIDI is just notes, not sounds. Think of it like sheet music.

Or do you want to hear sounds coming out of the YPG-625?

If so, then you might need to tell us how its hooked up to your computer. If you are using MIDI cables, you need to use two cables. One out of the controller and into the computer, and one out of the computer and into the controller/synth.

If by USB, then you need to select the OUTPUT of the midi channel to route that data back to the yamaha, on the correct MIDI channel, and have a sound on that MIDI channel. Then, of course, you need some way to hear the yamaha. Headphones? Audio cables going into your soundcard, routed to an audio track in Live that is armed to record?

I figured it out. Certain virtual instruments don't go that high on the keyboard. I was pressing the highest keys, but when I would press some lower keys, I would get the sound. Thanks for your help!
