The onscreen help in Live describes the function of this button as 'reverts to the default warp settings, as chosen from the Defaults Preferences'

This doesn't seem to work

I bring in a clip, Live defaults it to Beats mode. I change it to Tones mode, then hit the reset to default button and it stays in Tones mode.

Am i missing something here?

I guess you´re right. The warp mode should reset as well. I`ll discuss this with our developers.

While we're on the subject of warping, I have a problem that goes like this: I recorded a bass line to Live's click track at 86.26 bpm, my default setting is to warp, so it starts out warped after I record it. Then I turn warp off. Then I realize the FL when rewire to Live doesn't do non-integer tempos. So I switch my tempo map in Live to 86 bpm, then turn warp back on on the bass track. Now it says the original tempo is 86 and the actually waveform and timing DON't change. It seem to be the case all the time--if you turn off warp on a clip, then change the tempo, then turn warp back on, it incorrectly re-interprets the original tempo to whatever the songs tempo is set to. This sucks. Please make it so that clips always remember the tempo at which they we're recorded, or am I missing something--doesn't this bother other people? I guess if you know the original tempo, you could set your song to this, then turn on warp on the clip, then change your tempo as desired, but its impossible for me to remember all the tempos at which I recorded whatever clips I'm working with.

Ryan, this behaviour seems to happen to audio that is not cut to an exact loop. Because Live cant work out what tempo the loop was recorded at it defaults to the tempo you now have live set at.

Also, just because FL Studio doesn't show that it is at 86.26 I am pretty sure that it is actually playing back at exactly Lives tempo. It has to, because Live is the clock master. I tested this with 1/4 notes in fruity against Lives metronome and it was rock solid. If Live was playing at 86.26 and fruity was playing at 86 the two would soon get out of sync.

If you want Live to remember the tempo of your loop then render the loop at the tempo it was recorded at so that the rendered file is exactly the right length. Live should have no problem with remembering the original tempo of the loop if you use this rendered file in place of your original file.
