Ok so I am looking into investing in a mixer this christmas.

My current setup is fairly simple:

I have Some KRK monitors going into a USB! M-Audio Fasttrack, I have a line in and XLR input on the fasstrack. I also have an M-audio Axiom61 Keyboard going in Via USB.

I need more Mic inputs and thought yeah, ill do it through a mixer.

I was looking at a Behringer 2442FX mixer but these dont come with ASIO drivers.

What do you guys recommend and how would I connect it to my computer????

I don't have any recommendations for a mixer but it seems to me that whatever mixer you get you would want to plug into the 2 inputs on your interface. If the 2 inputs don't serve as stereo in then you might as well just get another interface with more inputs.

I dont have a lot of mixer experience, but I really didn't like my Behringer mixer as it was too noisy, and sounded crappy. I've always heard great things about Mackie mixers.

Yeah, go Mackie vlz 1604 III. Good mike pre's. Tip - use the mic pre's for line in too, they sound better than the line ins.

They have USB2.0 and firewire versions. Both lines come in 8, 12, & 16 channel flavors.

I use the Multimix Firewire 16 channel and I love it. I am using it with my G4 Powerbook and it runs great.

It works the way you think a mixer interface should work. I wish it had MIDI so that I could route all my hardware signals in one place but thats no big deal. I use it for Mics and Line inputs. The preamps sound fine.

The price is pretty good as well. Check them out.

I'd second the alesis. Good quality on a budget. The only way you'd get better mic pres is with dedicated preamps at that price point.

I've got an old Behringer mx2442a mixer, never had any problmes with noise. Just got a mackie cr1604 too a little while back, slightly cleaner sounding but I wouldnt say behringers were that bad in comparison.

Great mixer - but if you plug line level signals into the mic pre you'll get impetance noise/issues.

Variable impedence mic inputs. Line sounds great in them.

Didnt realise they'd changed the spec since my cr1604 came out. Fair enough

it's the XDR pre's to be accurate. Honestly, I wasn't sure, I hade to check it out lol.
