Midi triggered images! - Help!

Hey guys! I need a little knowledge if anyone has any to share :D

I'm trying to do something that I kinda thought would be pretty straight forward but i'm having some trouble tracking down the software to do it.

All I want to do is trigger still images with a midi note. Like a slideshow but triggered with midi notes. If I could overlay the images and adjust opacity even better but thats not too essential. I have been looking at modul8 and although it looks super sweet I think it does way more than I actually require and is pretty expensive.

Does anyone know off an app that will do what I'm looking for?

Any help would be mucho appreciado!!

Thanks in advance!

Nick :D

If yer on OS X Tiger or Leopard you could easily do this with Quartz Composer. Its bundled with the Developer Tools. The stock com[postions should get you going. Check out http://www.zugakousaku.com for some cool QC Compositions...

Opentzt (windows): http://opentzt.sourceforge.net

is free, and very powerful. It displays .jpgs and .bmps as well as movie formats.

It's also designed a little differently than other vj programs, and I had some trouble getting midi to behave. Here is a link to a screenshot of what eventually worked (scroll to bottom of page):

Her's a link to the manual:

It seems the main webpage, opentzt.com is down. I am really surprised that this excellent vj app has not found a large fanbase, especially considering the price. It is hard to find other users.

Anyone else use opentzt with Live?

Hi! I'm quite a noob when it comes to live visuals and triggering images with Ableton and Push2. Would there be a way to assign an image to a midi note and then sequence it and in a perfect world then mangle with that the way the VJ software normally allows? Thank you!
