Ableton Live 6 and Oxygen 8 Also!!! Dreaded Vista too

Hi, I spent a long time last night reading posts about this, managed to download the drivers, of course that didin't work, as per another long and helpful post on here, I went into device manager, updated the driver and got Ableton recognising the Oxygen, I could set MIDI controls but couldn't get the oxygen to trigger the onboard sounds ( say Synth ) which is the main reason that I bought the keyboard. This was mu first problem and main reason for starting this post.
I now have truned my laptop back on to make the post, checking ableton again, it no longer recognises the Oxygen!! I havent done anything other than shut down and 8 hours later restarted! With the Motu 828 I use Ableton learnt about it once and picks it up when ever I tell it to... whay not he oxygen.
Last night, I could use the oxygen as a MIDI controler, but couldn't get it to trigger the onbaord synths. I had the prefs sorted
Oxygen 8 as control surface - if i remember right the input was USB keyboard - and the output was my lap tops sound card ( microsoft GS wavwtable synth ). I armed a MIDI channel and loaded a sound module ( bombardier bass ), could set MIDI controls on anything I wanted in live but couldn't trigger the sounds when recording in MIDI - no MIDI signal was regestering either.
So in isolation my questions are :
1/ Why doesnt Ableton recognise the oxyegn again, what do I have to do to keep them talking to each other ?
2/ When I have got the oxygen and Ableton talking, how do I set it up so I can trigger the MIDI instruments from the Keyboard.
Thanks in advance for your help.
