These are the only ones I use, and SUPA TRIGGA in the TOP of the list.

supatrigga = Mac PC
scrubby = Mac PC
supaphaser = Mac PC
cyanide = Mac PC

Floorfish (and all the other Fish VSTs are great too)

How about some links for each plug-in?

Guess I could just Google but I'm lazy and if you use the plug-in, you probably know the URL anyway...

1. PSP Vingtagewarmer
2. Waldorf D-Pole (this is an AMAZING filter...)
3. Supatrigga
4. Supa-phaser

Other than that, it's mostly Live plugs for me...

BUT, I am looking for a compressor that really squishes drums and isn't subtle about it. Most compressors strive to be "clean" or "transparent". Frick that, I want stinky dirty dark and pumping beats. Any suggestions? I have been using the Vintage warmer a lot for this, turning up the drive, but I'm starting to tire of the sound. How's magneto?

if you go to www.kvr-vst.com you will most likely find links to all of, or at least most of the vsts mentioned...

Don't know if anybody mentioned it yet, but I really like Antares Tube and Antares Filter... www.antares-tech.com I believe.

A good chunk of what people have been mentioning I believe comes from www.smartelectronix.com but I may be wrong... my brain isn't screwed on straight today.

If you're just looking for a big honking swiss army knife, I'd suggest checking out Native Instruments Reaktor 4. The only problem I have with it, there are so many options it is kind of like getting hit in the head when trying to figure out where to start some days.

Rich--gaspode has it right--go to kvr-vst.com, click the "instruments, effects, hosts, ..." tab near the top right. Now, on the top left, three drop-down boxes should appear--here you can search for vsteffects and vsti by name--want supatrigga--scroll down to the "s" region in the effects box. Want to see smartelectronix plugins (yes, you do!), in the middle of the screen is a "show by developer" alphabetized drop down box....you get the rest. great site, the kvr.

Montrealbreaks--have you tried cyanide or blockfish--you can smash some drums up in there. I sometimes compress the hell out of drums with a live compressor 1, then send it through a cyanide preset for a durrrty drum sound.

Yes, on my Mac I use Pluggo 3 and the SmartElectronix stuff which make for a great combination when wanting to mess things up (in a good way)!

for montrealbreaks re: lots of compression....
my favorite compressor isn't which, but how many. like two (or three?) of the digital fish phones compressors (can never remember which is which) in a row, both maxed. or vintage warmers, or whatever...works great.

montrealbreaks:

I just found "BJ overdrive" in my vst plugins folder--it can quickly distort and smash some drums-- I think its an mda free plug..
