Why do my low samples sound different in the browser...

Could anyone explain to me why 808-styled, sine wav type kicks sound better in the browser than they do when I load them into a simpler in an empty live set w/ no effects anywhere in the set.
They'll sound PERFECT unprocessed in the browser. I'll load them into simpler OR impulse...and unprocessed there i'll get an obnoxious clicky pop sound that wasn't present when played back in the browser.
Can anyone help me get to the bottom of this?

Check some settings in Simpler. Turn the volume attack up to maybe .20ms or so (use your ears). Make sure you're hitting C3 on your keyboard or triggering device or the sample will not be in it's normal pitch (unless that's what you want).

this has nothing to do with the settings in simpler or impulse in your case regarding the "clicky pop sound" of your 808 base drum when loading the sample into the devices.
Previewing in browser seems to add a short fade in by default so you won't hear the sample as it really is. This applies only to samples with a fast attack transient at the beginning in most cases.
Try to listen to the sample somewhere else (not in LIVE) and you'll hear the same result as when you play it back in simpler/impulse.
To get the same result in simpler/impulse you have to set the attack similar to the fade in within the browser.
hope this helps,
cheers

i was under the impression that samples in the browser are warped to relate to the tempo of your current project... which is why some loop samples etc. sound granular when previewing.
i might be talking complete bollocks tho

No you right. In the preferences in LIVE you can choose how previewing in the browser will behave concerning automatic warping of long and short samples (on/off/auto).
I just wanted to let you know that a very short fade is made anyway while previewing in the browser.

THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE GUYS!
And Stefan i do believe your are correct. Adjusting the attack ever sooo slightly makes the pop sound diminish to an acceptable level.
I leave the autowarp function off...so I knew that wasn't a factor.
I'm glad to know that its the browser not something in Live devices.
Thanks again for the replies.
