soundcard help please

Do i need a multi output soundcard to be able to listen to the cue in dj mode?will any soundcard work along with the soundcard already in the machine to give me 2 seperate ouput channels?or should i buy a multi output soundcard?any recommendations?im running a hp laptop.cheers
