Visual Data Gone and Live 6 (and now 7) Freezes

was using Live 6 on a 1.67 ghz/2 gig ram mac g4. i finished a mix and rendered it. i went back and opened the file to work on it more and now all the visual data is gone and the song doesn't show that it's playing even though i hear the session. when i try to scroll on the top to look for the work it freezes and pinwheels me. i've upgraded to 7 and it still doesn't work.
any clues?
