Saving output settings

I'm running: G4 Mac Pbook with 768mg ram OS Panther. Also a M-Audio firewire 410 Interface. Anyway to save output settings so that if you choose to use Live without your interface, say just with your computer output, you dont have to chage all the output settings back to their original settings next time you plug in your interface. Comprende?

I agree completely ! I am so sick of opening preferences I'm loosing my mind. Have a default to (in my case CoreAudio) so if it doesn't see my firewire it launches without having to open the preferences. One would wish that the developer would think like a user instead of like an engineer (as a developer I know that we are all guilty). Use the few computer niceities (sp?) to make the experience better.
