Gaps in between Loops...how to remove them!?

Hey everyone
I have a problem in that whenever I record something (for example drum beats using Impulse), once I stop recording and play it back, when it reaches the end of the track it automatically loops itself, which is fine as it's what I want anyway, BUT it always puts in a little 1 second pause or gap between the tracks. It'll just keep looping indefinately but there're always these gaps throughout the song, which obviously I do NOT want as they totally ruin the rhythm. I just want to get rid of the pauses and have it continue on exactly as recorded throughout.
I have 2 ideas for how to fix it, but I'm not sure what I'm doing and can't find anything in the manual anywhere or the tutorials.
1. Something about "consolidate"? What does this actually do?
2. Turn off the snap to grid thing? Would it maybe then get rid of the 1 second pause between loops?
Thanks!
