Live 7 is AMAZING!!

the built in sidechaining alone makes an enormous world of difference but 7 for sure is the ultimate for ableton so far!!! Thank you ableton!!!!!

Have you guys figured out how to use the built in side chaining

OMG please enlighten me...

rex files were easy, but this I am having trouble seeing

We dont normally post .. but have been long time fans .. but we had to say / endorse this.

A massive thank you Ableton! :)

The Insert external intruments and effects now allows us to re-discover our vavle gear again! makes things really easy.

The eventide h8000 has now become our main effects unit in our studio again!

THANK YOU! keep up the inovative and inspiring work!

This wasn't necessary in live 6, either.
If you're sidechaining with an external plugin it usually is, since you can't tell an external plugin to take its sidechain from somewhere, you have to have an extra track to send it to there. (Unless there's some cleverer way I never figured out?)

Just use the sends instead of cloning tracks.

Return channel audio to -> compressor key input. Now adjust the corresponding send on the channel(s) you want to use as a key signal.

Oh this is basically what I do, but routing-wise you still have to have one extra send or intermediate track for every sidechain input, that's what I thought djmarkpappas meant. You no longer need the extra intermediate tracks with the way routing works for live-internal devices that do sidechaining.

Ok, yep. I'm pretty sure he meant the old trick of cloning the whole kick drum track into as many copies as he needs for routing it into key inputs :) ... There hasn't been a need to do that in a while.
