hallo.

i have a new computer with vista.. ableton runs well, but when i try
to load a song into my audio track I get the following message:

due to insufficient access rights, the link to the
windows components for sample decoding could not
be established. In order to decode such files, please
start Live once as an administrator or member of
administrators group, or install quicktime.

so i've installed quicktime, but nothing changed...
i'm already logged in in vista as an administrator so thats not the problem..

does anybody knows how i can solve this problem?

I'm having the same problem. The strange thing is that I can play the same files on my MacBook with Ableton Live. I'm running Win7 and even tried messing the with security/permission settings...no luck. Can anyone help?

mystery solved - you need to open Ableton Live as admin (via right clicking) EVEN when you are logged in as admin.

It was not a problem due to specific file permissions, even though it only affected certain files. Windows7...good times.
