Gator Studio-2-Go

I travel so damn much and haven't found the perfect case yet for bringing laptop, audio interface, hard ext. hard drive and other gear. This looks pretty damn fantastic (minus the Digi 002). Anybody got one and have any issues? I love that the laptop can stay right on top. Makes using a hotel room much easier if there isn't much table/desk space. Wouldn't be much of a problem on the bed, either.

Price is great, too, if nobody has any experience I don't mind being a guinea pig.

wow thats cool, you could get rid of that Digi interface and put in a rack mount sliding draw then put a controller in there.

That is exactly what I have in mind. PERFECT Lemur holder.

I have one and it is fantastic. Put a drawer in there just like you guys suggested and it fits everything I need.

I've cradled one in my arms before, but never owned one.

I could use one of those tonight.

Yeah, I've used one of the larger (4-rack space) hard-sided cases for several years. I really like it. The 4-space one is pretty large (I can't stand using a touch pad so I have a shelf for a mouse in there), and I could use a bit more room for my larger Dell laptop in the upper space, but it has certainly stood the test of time so far and is uber-weatherproof.

PS: A Lemur and a laptop + psus will fit snuggly into an Ableton messenger bag - but I reckon you already know that.

You mean the hardshell 4 unit case? Yeah, it just looks a little bulky, and I want to carry it on. That's why I've been debating it.

I'd like to sit across from you on an airplane and watch the people next to you while you're setting that up on the seat lap tray.

sparky, I've been considering the options for a while now, and as you know my rig looks a lot like yours, laptop (12"), half-unit audio interface, Lemur, and, quite often, PadKontrol.

I have tried every layout in the book (I do audio systems design as part of my day-job) and I've pieced the puzzle together soo many times it's not even funny.

My one major gripe with this sort of rig is that performance-wise the setup suffers if you do laptop-above-Lemur. I'd much rather do Laptop-below-Lemur (which I *can* pull off quite easy, since the laptop is a tablet), but I really want more accessibility (sp?) of the tablet.

I *think* that for me what is needed is having the Lemur and laptop side-by-side, in what looks more like a wide, but not too deep guitar pedal board style case. I've looked into it and having a moulded custom case for a rig like that is propably the best thing. It's wider than the gator case, but slim, and acts like a table for shoving onto a stand. The lid could then be placed on a second tier, with more equipment on it.

It's more fun to pull out the Monome on a plane. An unmarked metal and black box with a grid of buttons. It's always good to take a very conspicuous look around the plane as if I'm checking to see if there are any air marshals around.

But seriously, a 17" laptop barely even fits on a dinner tray. Working on cross country/atlantic flights is pretty difficult. I mostly just do editing, something that is necessary and doesn't drain the battery very much.

Idea for new thread! What are peoples working methods on trips? How do you utilize battery life and limited space?

Yeah, next to each other is the best thing for me, so I was also thinking of this case for performing:

SKB Controller Case

This would be the best for performing. What I've been doing now, since I play guitar live, too, is to throw my guitar case up on my 2 tier keyboard stand as the table with my Remote 25 SL and Lemur, and the laptop on the top tier of the stand. But this case would be perfect for the keyboard and the Lemur.

hmm. Starting to look into floor-board cases, there are some in the right size-range:

but for a remote sl 25 and a lemur side-by-side you'd need an 84cm wide case... that's quite big.
