Ozone is the problem with driver cutouts- IMPORTANT INFO

I tore my hair out for months with this one. Why was my M-Audio Ozone's drivers failing in all my Sound Progs from Abelton 3.0.4 all the way through Cubase SX? Well, I read a thing in this forum where the guy said he may have had a power problem with the Ozone getting a power spike which would disable the drivers. I was getting the same thing where the PC (or MAC, I run both) would have driver dropout but no CPU or Program crash. I tried to contact M-Audio support which played dumb to any suggestions. Thus after excessive testing I took it back to my music shop, expecting to get resistance to any deal as it had been 9 months since I bought it. The tech guy simply looked at me and said "that's number five" stating that this was the fifth machine to be returned with the same problem! He then gave me brand new Ozone and told me to give it a go, saying there is something wrong with the power unit inside the machine causing the drivers to crash. I would like to say thanks to the guy on this forum who originally put me on to the right path. I would like to say I'm very disappointed that M-Audio played dumb with me as to there being anything wrong with the hardware- hopefully they will fix it now. I've got the new Ozone at home running continuously so I"ll let ya know the outcome. So after you have read all this crap, breathe a sigh of relief knowing it's not your computer and take the Ozone back to your place of purchase.
