dammmmmn,

i downloaded live 7 juste to play with it, but didn't bought yet. now when i open my projects in live 6, there is a lot of clips that are "offline", can't find them on my disc neither, tried to automatically search them, but nothing is working. i remember live 7 asking to move files from the bibliotheque but i said no.

needless to say, i would find it funnier if that wasn't about all the music i made until today. please help!

Hi,

If you said "no" to the question "do you want to upgrade your Library", your Live 6 Library has not been upgraded, but either Live 7 was started without a Library, or a new Library was created.

Now, have you checked, in Live 6, if the Library path is set correctly, in the Preferences, File/Folder tab?
Also, if you search for the files, make sure to include your "my documents" folder (if you're on PC), and enable "fully rescan folders".

Regards,
Amaury

Hi,

The default path of the Library, on a Mac, is:

user homefolder/library/application support/ableton/library

hello amaury,

when i want to set the path, it says that i may destroy some files and that older life version won't work, which i feel sorry about because i used and still do use life 5.

if i remember well, when i started live 7 i i said i didn't want a new library. but now i put everything in the trash regarding live 7 so maybe that's the problem. by the way, way better reverbs and comp in the 7.

thanks for your reply, sorry i am not that good with computer, but i really hope we'll find something cuase for now i am afraid...

i have to check again, but it seems like only audios are missing...

Live 7 does overwrite some of the presets and files with it's own format, so it's not lying.

Hi,

So, you probably updated your Library, by mistake. Some of the files are then converted to a Live 7 format, as to take advantage of the improvements made.

What you can do is open Live 6, create a new Library by choosing a new path for it in the Preferences, File/Folder tab. Then, install all Live 6 packs you'll find here:
http://www.ableton.com/livepacks

Of course, that Library will only include the Ableton files, and not your custom files if you had any.

Hope that helps,
regards,
Amaury

Thanks for your reply.

If I will buy the 7 soon, if I do so and just download it everything will work again?

Sorry, I'm misunderstanding I think. The procedure I just gave is to re-install a Live 6 Library, to use with Live 6. The current Library you have should work with Live 7, since you've upgraded it when launching Live 7, so, if you buy Live 7, it will work with it with nothing else to re-install.

Résumé of the situation:

Worked on live 6, opened a few sets with the demo of the seven, threw everything regarding the seven in the trash. Problem, some files are missing, written offline on them. Tried to search them and so but didn't work.

Just bought the 7 now, but those files are still missing.

Me sad.

Hi,

Okay, What is it you deleted? Anything from the Library? Did you try re-installing all the packs from the download page?

More precisely, what is it that is missing?
