I've recorded some midi and sent some program changes while playing, now I want to remove the program changes, but can't find them !
I've even erased the bit of the midi clip where the program changes occur but they still happen , that's weird

They're not hidden.
Each clip has 1 program change which can be found to the left of the notes section.
The dropboxes named Bank, Sub-Bank and Program. Set all to "none".

OK thanks.
Although I'd missed that it's still not changing anything.
All the clips I had recorded had Bank and Sub Bank set to none , and the program to 5.
But just clicking on each of these clips change the program of the instrument. So I've set them all to program: none, but it's the same.
to me, the info is hidden somewhere, and I can't change that once it's recorded

Is this only useful for external synths or plugins ? I've always looked at those drop boxes and thought what on earth i could use them for..

Yeah, it only works with external stuff. None of Abletons devices use program changes.

Ableton, can anyone cue me on this ?
how can we remove program changes once they're recorded ?
is this a bug the fact that I can't bypass the recorded program changes by setting the box in the clip view to "none" or any number in fact ?

well they're not in the list of accessed parameters.
i imagine 90% of live users work mainly with midi and no one knows how to erase or change recorded program changes, that's weird.
Nor Ableton apparently

There's only 1 program change and its not an envelope. Its a dropbox.
If deleting the program changes doesn't work for you, it must be something else causing the problem.
Program changes in a clip envelope.... we wish...

something else causing the problem ?
how do you mean?
the program changes that I've recorded and can't get rid of, still change programs. So it's not "something else", it's just the program changes changing the programs like they should.
The problem is they can't be edited.
If there's no way to remove or edit the program change it is a bug.
Do a simple test: record a midi clip and send some program changes, they will be recorded but you won't find them anywhere and depending on where you click on the clip, the program will change accordingly.
In principle this is normal, but not being able to remove or edit these is a BUG
But even stranger if you remove a portion of the clip (in the middle), clicking in that empty space will still change the program although there is no clip !!!
THAT is a bug !

Which empty space?
The space of the clip that isn't there anymore? You lost me...
