And we all know MOTU Ultralite is the bomb!
http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/ultralite

However if you've got the coin! Midi Controller + Soundcard + Effects Processor, but heavenly angel in one...

Korg Zero 8 or 4

OR

Ecler Evo 5

And I'll live vicariously through you.

You should not be gray on a M-Audio Firewire interface, you should be black. Black like death. Death you will wish upon the interface when it doesn't work and you realize it sounds like crap.

That being said, I vote for Ultralite! I love mine like a fat kid loves cake, or a lesbian loves fake penis.

Also, there Firewire 1814's drivers are in beta for 32 bit Vista, so I wouldn't recommend it (at least not for now)

+1 for the Ultralite, though I use it on a Mac.

two years in signal chain -- so far so good. Firewire cable must have secure connection or there is horrendus digital klank when connections are gapped. That is the only coompaint and it is user determined.

i'm not sure if there are just lot's of motu users on this board but i've read quite a few threads here over the last few months with users having issues with motu gear... do some searches here for ultralite etc.

i think you may find issues with motu stuff mainly on pc laptops that dont have the TI chipsets on their firewire cards...something to look into anyway.

i was looking at buying an m-audio 1814 about 2 years ago. i read that many threads on various forums with people having issues that i was completely scared off.

hello. just want to second the tc konnekt live. i actually don't use it for live use, but i like having the multiband compressor on the out for that extra nice punch while playing around. there seemed to be driver issues for awhile, but when i took the plunge, all i did was install the software plugged it in and went. has been working great. sound quality is excellent, and the price was certainly right. give it a spin.
