The MOTU 828s look very nice provided that you're a Mac user (as you are.) And the fact that it includes hardware pots is a nice perk over the RME hardware.
But I don't think they have nearly the sound quality as the RME/Nuendo stuff (it's the same hardware by the way. The Nuendo Multiset is simply a repackaged RME Multiface, so buy whichever you want.)
Plus, the RME hardware comes with an amazing routing mixer interface called TotalMix, which I don't believe has an equivalent on the MOTU.
I'm biased, because I'm a long time RME user and advocate. But I really do think their products are absolutely the finest you can buy. Their tech support is amazing - just post to the RME newsgroup and someone will answer you VERY soon.

Good luck,

Nuendo/RME's multiface rocks  . I returned my clunky, outdated 828 for RME's DSP powerhouse. I can run an entire mixer using it's DSP. It's half the size so it actually fits in any bag. It includes routing and submixing of internal and external audio in to out! The 828's only upsides are the atenuation nob on the front and the phantom power (if it had it, I can't remember). I fixed the attenuaion by buying a $7 adapter from Radio Shack. The DSP mixer also allows for software based attentuation.... :D

i have a Native Instruments Audio 8 DJ.

i use it to play live electro with a drum kit and 2 keyboards. its sweet cuz i have the electric kit plug in rca - rca to one of the channels, and i plug in a korg synth - midi through - akai mpk 49 - midi input to the audio 8 dj.

i use an apc 40, and have a drummer using an electric kit, and have a piano player all at once. works really well. i can't imagine what more you'd need.

but if you aren't gonna be doing more than djing live you really don't need something this pricey. basically i'm saying the ni audio 8 dj is sick, and i recomend it.

LET IT BE REVIVED!

I'm new to the whole idea of soundcards to go between your laptop and your mixer. I want to be using my APC in the club, what's the kind of thing I need and what's a good deal on one?

Haha, very general. I'm looking for recommendations, hopefully on the cheap.

THanks

I also need on the cheap a card to plug into a clubs system. Dont want m-audio and dont need protools, some lexicons are nice in the 300 range. But then i dont need to cue really, so I could get away as the onboards fine with Asio4all, but i know i need to get one soon.
