My live set starts to struggle after ~30 minutes...

Hey i'm curious as to where my problem lies here!
I have a (pretty big) live set, that's probably got about 2 gig worth of stuff in it. I have about 6 channels of audio going at a time; usually kick, percussion, synth 1, synth 2, vox, misc
It all goes fine until about 30 minutes through; and from then on when i launch a scene there's a tiny gap (say 0.3 sec of silence) before it launches - which is short, but obviously very noticable and ruins the flow of the music!
I wonder, is this a RAM or harddisk issue?
I only have 1 gig of RAM, but i don't set any of my audio clips to run from the RAM so i dunno if that's the issue.
Or is a harddisk issue? My set is on my laptop's internal drive, which also of course has ableton on it.
So i wondering if i should increase my RAM or get an external harddisk to run my set from...
Cheers for any help!
