Missing Extern Source Settings on Compressor Sidechain

Sidechaning is working pretty well in Live 7 on Gate effects for me but not on Compressor. I click on the arrow

on compressor title bar and the sidechain section shows up but I do
NOT see the section which allows me to select the sound source: "Extern"/"Audio-From" settings section.
Can others see the "Extern" section for sidechain? Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
Also, oddly enough, the screenshot of Compressor on page 275 in the online manual:
(
http://www.ableton.com/_common/download ... ual_en.pdf) does not match the one in the print manual on page 244.
Thanks!

Yes, the sidechain GUIs changed after the manual went to print, so the pdf version was updated later to represent this more accurately.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up but what about the actual problem?
The manual says:
The sidechain parameters are divided into two sections. On the left are the external controls. Enabling this section with the Sidechain button allows you to select any of Live’s internal routing points from the choosers below. This causes the selected source to act as the compressor’s trigger, instead of the signal that is actually being compressed.
The sidechain area shows up but that specific section to specify the source does not even show up for me

Hi murm,
I'm not entirely sure I understand the situation. Do you not have choosers below the Sidechain button at all? Or are they visible but greyed out? If you've selected Feedback (FB) mode, external sidechaining is disabled. Perhaps this is the problem?

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for the quick response. Here is a screenshot of my compressor:
As you can see, I only get the EQ section and not the "Audio From" or "Extern" section. So I have no way to tell Ableton what to base the sidechain on!
Does the problem make more sense? What am I doing wrong?

Hi murm,
It looks like a GUI resource file of your Live install is broken, it should never look like that. Try reinstalling Live.
cheers,

I'd installed Live 7 over the existing Live 6 installation. I guess that would be the reason
Anything I can do to ensure that my Live Sets stay intact and that I don't loose anything when I uninstall and install?
