Live doesn't export to mp3. You will have to use a second program like itunes to encode to mp3.

Simple:

Download the free program "Audacity" (search for it on the net). Import your aif files into audcacity, then select "Convert to MP3" under the file tab. Viola.

In Live, choose "Render to disk", which will give you a .wav file. You can use iTunes or Audacity to convert this file to mp3.

LAME is one of the best MP3 encoders"." It's also free. It supports VBR and bewilldering number of options should have more specifc requirements like mono or super long super high compression etc ... LAME by itself is command line opperated but there are many GUI's that will use it.

After you render your wav from LIVE you can encode it with LAME or OGG

 OGG Drop is pretty cool too, OGG is VBR by default. Not all players will decode OGG but many people think it's a better audio compression algorthm than MP3. LIVE "will" decode OGG.
