Terrible output quality on Live Lite 6

I just purchased an M-Audio Audiophile USB interface that came with Live Lite 6. I just started to record live audio with it today. I've done all of the set up tutorials and thought I worked out all the latency kinks, but the monitored input audio and the output audio after I record sound terrible, as if they were being heavily bitcrushed. I know it's not my mixer, because I tried running the signal out of my Kaoss pad after failing to get a clear sound running a line from the tape out of the mixer, and the Kaoss pad route didn't help at all. I can't figure it out, and it's bugging me quite a bit. Could it be my interface's fault? It's brand new out of the box.
