Can anyone please tell me how to setup MusicLabs RealGuitar to work in Live 7. I,e how to send midi to it from live and get it to send audio back to live. Start from the ground up please as I have absolutely no idea where to start.

Thanks and a happy new year to all...

put the .dll file for RealGuitar in your VST folder.

Live should then list RealGuitar in your Plug-in folder.

Drag it into a Midi track and have fun.

Live will treat it just like any other instrument.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I had not RTFM properly and was asking too much of the vst.
One thing I also learned about VST's is that you only need to make a shortcut link in the vst folder and Live will find it. But only one level deep so using sub folders appears not to work.

Thanks again

it works with more that one level. What I do is have a folder called VstShortcuts anywhere on the hard drive. Then, in there I create all folder hierarchy, eg a folder called Effects with Effects>Reverb folder, Effects>Delay folder and also an Instruments folder with all instruments in there. In there, you can create shortcuts to your various vst instruments and effects. Now if you set Live to look inside the VstShortcuts folder you will be able to see the folder structure from Live browser.
Hope it makes sense.
