I just bought a new macbook pro and I'd like to use all of the outputs of my external soundcard and use the internal headphone jack for monitoring. Is this possible at all???

sorry if it has been asked already but I did a search and found nothing.

THX

zEr0,

I hope I'm wrong but the only way I've found to do this is to use Jack OSX - which is a free audio routing app - to fool Ableton into using separate hardware devices as different outlets of the same device.

It's not pretty but i works.
Good luck!

You can do it if youre using the cross-fader but i havent really played around with this so im not sure how you set-up where it send everything

yh just had a quick look, it works with the crossfader in the session view. I cant test about sending to different output devices cos i only have one but if you click on the little view I/O thing you should be able to configure it there.

can you make an aggregated audio app?
I never used a mac. But I heard OSX can combine different soundcards.
check:
http://www.apple.com/pro/techniques/aggregateaudio/

That should solve your problem 8O

Yes, aggregate audio device is what you want. I think I've gone as far as combining my FireWire Solo, EMI 2/6 and internal audio successfully in the past...

THX guys the aggregate audio thing was exactly what i was looking for. Too bad as soon as I try to use my aggregated audio device in live my computer starts to lag like a bitch and the total audio latency becomes quite noticeable.

I-m beggining to ask myself why I bought myself a brand new macbook pro with 4gb of ram if I'm still gonna have to struggle with these kind of problems...........
