MAC OS on a PC?

I've browsed around the net and see that there may be a way to do this and with Leopard at around $100 Im curious.
If MAC is the Messiah I always hear about for A/V applications I want to try it out. Now granted Im sure it wont be the same as a REAL MAC box but I want to see if there are any performance gains to be had from this OS for Audio use.
Has anybody tried this (dual boot or otherwise). I know installing Windows on a MAC is very and that's not what Im interested in. I'd like to hear from anybody who's installed the MAC OS on their PC for DAW purposes. What were the benefits and or shortcomings?

From what I hear, there's very little performance difference between a Mac running XP and a Mac running OSX. If anything, XP is very slightly faster for Ableton.
So I very much doubt there'll be a increase in performance from running OSX on a PC. Of course if there's specific Mac software you want to use, then it might be worth investigating. I imagine someone will sort out the audio drivers before long.

Saw several pcs run osx. In most cases it worked beautifully. Some missed the mouse (ie trackpad only) and sound. But Leopard should be more adaptable, given the chipset changes Apple is endowing these times.

A buddy of mine recently built a Hackintosh, what a killer machine. He uses it primarily for Pro Tools, the funny thing is that PT performance is much better under XP on a his Hackintosh.

I had it working too with no problems. Just did it for fun really, and for testing purposes. This was a while back on an old toshiba laptop, everything worked for me right out of the box, funny because The same machine with XP needed drivers for everything to work, but with Tiger, no need to install drivers...Threw the Live demo on there and it worked fine, Also, if your built in audio driver doesnt work, and you use an external USB, Firewire audio device, remember you can just use the OS X drivers to install it...
There are some nice resources out there explaining what harware works better than others...
