Computer to EQ/COMP. back to Computer - How?

I using a M-Audio Aidiophile 192 with 1/2 in and 4 out.

I'm sending audio to a pair of dbx eq and compressors to a small mixer, then out to the monitors and headset. I mainly use the eq/comp. for input to the sound card to ableton. I was hoping that I could use the out board eq/comp. for mastering my sessions but I'm finding out that routing out and back into the sound card creates massive feedback problems.

Any Idea's on using outboard eq/comp effectively for mastering.

in L7 You should route the premastered signal through a "external effect" fx the problem may be a lag only, but there is some kind of time compensation or smthng

guess You'd out of all tracks to one audio track with the external effect fx routed 3/4 out (connected to the external fx chain) and getting signal from 1/2 in (check the lag)

in L6 You will have more to do as the audio additional track (for it has no external effect fx) should be set to in (monitor mode) and routed to external out 3/4.
then You'd add another audio track which also set to in and external in 1/2 would reiceve the signal from the external devices. this track is to be working as a recorder of your mastered tracks. (also have in mind the lags).

Hope it will help You.

and you've done this this way without a tunnel sound. Also the fx rack you talked about, will a feedback rack work for this or not.

I'll check the lag on the audio card and slim it down alot for mastering and see what I'll get back.

This is not over my head I just don't have a fx rack, Today!
