Macbook Pro + UC33e + Xone 1D

I already have the MAC and the UC33e which work brilliantly. Recently, I have been using my M-Audio Firewire4/10 to output to my Pioneer mixer to control channel faders and eq etc, and used the UC33 for effects. It works really well. However, I am about to start a residency in a small club where I will have limited space and will not be able to use the Pioneer.

So, I am planning to buy a Xone 1D and run it alongside the UC33e, does anyone have any experience of running two MIDI controllers side by side? I want to use the 1D for faders, clip launch and EQ, and then keep the UC33 for the effects as before. Will this work??

All comments greatly appreciated.

You vcan use as many midi controllers as you like but you can't use the Allen & Heath Xone 1D simply becuase it's vapourware.

Seriously. Is that thing or the 2D ever going to actually come out? It was announced almost two years ago!

Ha ha vapourware! Nice, I have seen sites with it in stock, is that not true?

2 years ago you could not get a 3d yet, and the 1d,2d were not even announced.

The 3D started shipping in july of 2006

Cats on ALDJ have the 1D, at least 2 I think.

One of them got an email from A&H saying that since the 1D's meant to sit alongside a mixer A&H didn't think you'd need the 1D for fast cuts & such, so it is actually designed with a laggy, smoothed-out response from the controls. Not sure if that's true, but the language from the email sounded like classic A&H, so f@*k the 1D as far as I'm concerned. It's a sweet design--they've started a genre that someone else will improve on someday--but it sounds like another botched attempt.

There's still no definitive Live controller beyond the Faderfox. We'll see what the junk peddlers at Stanton debut tomorrow, maybe that will raise the stakes. Probably not, but they're hyping the hell out of it.

I've got two 1d's and have orge's bomes template running to double up their controls using a switch function..... Awesome...

On the other hand if cutting tracks in quickly is your style of mixing then avoid as they are designed for smooth transitions with the midi response from the faders being not good.....

Pity because they are great apart from that!

Cheers

S4racen,

Would you please elaborate on "orge's bomes template".

I too have xone:1d, an I am keen to identify methods of expanding its functionality.
