popping or breaking sound as i record help please

i was recording using my keyboard not midi, but just the audio part and i noticed a breaking sound or a popping sound. can anyone help fix this problem. 
was it clipping? Turn down volume.
Is your keyboard broken by any chance?
What is your soundcard? And what is the latency set to? Turn up the buffer size perhaps. Use asio drivers perhaps.
