Do any of you feel that Ableton is somewhat limited with the tools it has for creating original tracks?

I feel that most of the tracks I've made sound too electronic and I can't seem to step outside the realm of techno.

Should I invest in other software as well? Some say Cubase is better for producing tracks... do any of you agree?

What type of music are you trying to create? Are you using any instruments? If not, then there is a reason it sounds all electronic... Live isn't acoustic.

I disagree.. just use arrange view to snap you out of that habit. My band creates predominately guitar based music with a little bit of electro.. Ill have to post up the recordings when done..

weird post -- how could you tracks sound too electronic/techno if (e.g.) they were just acoustic guitar, vocals, and tabla? how the DAW dictate what you're putting in? admittedly, live's looping capabilities/session view may you lead you to do even acoustic stuff in too loop focused a way. but, as noted earlier, there's always arrange.

7 out of 10 tracks from our next record were tracked in Live 6 and this is our first none electronic, mostly pop release to date.
i recorded a metal track the other day to test out Live 7 when i first got it...

I bet if you bought Cubase SX, Waves gold bundle, Reaktor and Sonar, you'd instantly be a much better musician.

just because someone comes here and posts "is it Ableton's fault my music is boring" and I reply in the negative, you assume my reply is hostile.

Dude, if you're using chiefly electronic instruments and production methods suited towards dance music, then of fucking course your music is going to sound electronic. If you want an "organic" sound, then use organic instruments. Ditch the samples and synths, learn how to play an "organic" instrument, and start recording.

I hate these threads. I really do.

Have you ever thought about practicing? Maybe if you guys stop complaining about the technology and bother to practice, you would see yourself go somewhere with your music.
