Using external drive for recording (good idea?)

Hello!

I bought an external 320 gbyte hard drive, which I will use solely for recording music. However I've got Ableton installed on the internal D: drive. Should I re-install Ableton on the external drive as well? I thought it might slow down the recording process when internal and external drives are combined...

Thanks in advance.

My understanding is that your current set-up is the most effecient. Ableton installed on one drive, and your session on another... It's much better than having one drive handling the program/effects/etc AND capturing the incoming audio.

That's how I have it set up. Live on C:, all projects, recordings, library, etc., on F: which is an external HD.
