L7.0.2b4 - Buffer adjustment causes severe distortion

Start increasing the buffer size and the audio starts distorting. Higher buffer size = more distortion.
However, if I leave it at a high value, close Live and then restart Live, the sound will be normal again. But the distortion will start again if I increase the buffer beyond the new value.
This one is repeatable with Midi and audio clips.
System: MacBook Pro (2.2 GHz) + OS X 10.4.11. Soundcard MOTU Ultralite.

Changed the title of this thread to reflect that it is also reproducible in L7.0.2b4.
Also, by chance, I discovered that if you switch the audio engine off & then on again (e.g. clicking CPU meter) then it has the same effect on this bug as restarting Live (the sound will be normal again, but the distortion will start again if I increase the buffer beyond the new value.)

More checking: this bug happens in my standard L7.01 too. But not in L6.0.10 - that behaves fine.
why are you adjusting the buffer size

why are you adjusting the buffer size in the first place? are you getting dropouts or wavering, or cpu spikes?
are you adjusting the latency buffer or the plugin buffer size?

Hi,
Am adjusting the latency buffer because I wanted to see if I could reduce the latency playing my midi keyboard. Was getting no drop-outs, but thought I could improve the responsiveness somewhat. So I reduced the buffer size until I started getting drop-outs. Then I went back and increased the buffer size again and found that the sound was being distorted (until I reset the audio engine). This only happened with L7; L6 seemed to be fine.
As I mentioned, if I stop/restart the audio engine then the new buffer values are fine. So it's not a show-stopping problem at all, but it's annoying on the occasional times that one wants to experiment changing the buffer values to reduce latency or conversely reduce drop-outs.
