Yamaha m/LAN vs. Ableton

Post by Eudawg » Mon Jan 21, 2008 6:33 pm

Has anybody been able to get these two, to play nice with each other. I'm having a hard time getting the motif sounds in ableton live 7.

i did have an 01x and ableton 5 working together fine a few years ago

you had to have the 01x software mixer running in the background, which seemed a little messy.

the way you could use the 01xs is channel strip as a plug in and then send the settings to the 01x to relieve the cpu was pretty cool.

can't really say I had any problem - very unhelpful I know! sorry

I got my motif to work in my Windows XP laptop computer...I have another laptop and it did not work with that one because it was Vista ( I guess ) 8O ....Big difference though. It's so clear. I feel like I'm making apple loops with Aleton and my Motif XS ( m/LAN ).

I was considering plumping for one while I had the 01x for a while, but never got to test one out

The sounds are great, they really sound like what you hear on the radio now very up to date. To tell you the truth the things that can be accomplished with Ableton and the motif is a very nice combo....But I also have a Korg M3, THIS PEICE IS NICE AND THE NEW fANTON G...Well I havn't heard this peice yet. Im sure its nice then the Fantom X. But I want one of these synths this one guys im seeing on this web-site on this page.

Been using mLAN between Live and my 01V for three years now with no issues.

Sixteen 24-bit/96kHz ins and outs (although I only get eight of each with my older 01V), and MIDI down a single FW400 cable. Mixer, soundcard, and MIDI controller all in one box, and built like a brick shithouse!

I liked working with the 01x.... a buddy of mine owned one
encountered no problems plus driver performance is really good...
very fun....
acts as a controller tooo...
Can't say I would be willing to travel with it - it's a pretty large unit
those moving faders.... although smooth... feel very delicate...
like you can easily break one offf..
all and alll a good digital mixer for the studio...
moving faders break the ice at boring house parties...
I could watch them for quite some time...moving on their own...
pretty versatile tool - I recommend...

Motif ES user here. No problems with Live. I can't however share the SAIO drivers with another program. For instance, if I open a my wave editor (Sound Forge) while Live is running, I can't use the ASIO drivers at same time.

That's about it.
