there seems to be different behaviour when soloing a chain..

Solo a chain in the inline mixer
- all chains in the inline mixer get muted,
as well as the top level mixer of that track and all other tracks

Solo a chain in the chain list (or on drum pads)
- all chains in the inline mixer get muted,
except the top level mixer of that track and all other tracks..

i.m.o. this should behave the same..
although I prefered the old behaviour..

When soloing another track, and an inline mixer:
The top level mixer of the track that has the inline mixer is visually still muted, though passing audio..

When soloing another track
The top level mixer of the track that has the inline mixer gets muted,
though the inline mixer chains are muted, but not visually..

When soloing an inline mixer chain:
The top level mixer gets visually muted, but actually passes audio..

All examples are confusing because there are double states which are visually not clear..

If inline mixers are now treated the same as top level mixers they should visually also be the same..
Though I can see some unique occasions where this can be confusing as well..

please bring back the old behaviour..

soloing an inline mixer that mutes all top level mixers really makes no sense..
that's why you have an inline mixer; to mix different layers within a track..

though I now think that with this change you want us to solo single elements within the rack chain list mixer;
i.m.o. that totally undermines the power, ease of use and concept of the inline mixer..

p.s.
previous documents don't translate to the new behaviour on open..

just thinking;
maybe a modifier key to: solo an inline chain mixer that mutes all top level mixers ?

this new behaviour has totally ruined my workflow..

because that'll still solo the actual track (which contains the drumrack) from all other tracks..

soloing within a drumrack should behave locally, as it did with the final release till beta 4

yeah, I got it now. I was missing the point before.
obviously I haven't been doing any in depth drum mixing with this beta.

so I agree with you on this one.
reverting back to the old system - which worked fine - if you wanted to un-hear the rest of the song with that system you could always solo the main drum track.

as you say - the idea of an inline mixer is that it is separated in function from the main mixer, not slaved to it.

they seem to be in a bit of a netherworld with it , "neither fish nor fowl" as teh saying goes
the fx sends are not linked to the main return sends, but the solos are linked to the main solos?
