Anyone using Live 7 Live?

So, I have Live 7 and am loving it for production.

However, I'm currently using 6 live because I know it works! Some recent reports have scared me off taking the jump recently.

I would like to use some of 7's features live though (mainly the instruments). Has anyone used tension or anything live yet? Any scary data screeches which blew everyone's ears off or anything?

I wouldn't ... tension tends to get out of hand if you mess with it....
maybe just to play presets...
( a limiter after it is advised...)
nothing else though...

Although I didn't play a set or a project live....
I did let a kbd player play 'Electric' Live through a PA in a blues/funk jam we had...
(I was playing bass+evolver)...
through a PA...
sounded gourgeous... +no hiccups or anything (core2duoPC+multifaceII)

I am still afraid to perform live with 7... too choppy for me...
every thing takes loads of time...GUI is buggy...CPU spikes...
I use it now only to get aquainted....it's still a beta...
bought it cuz I'm sure they'll make it work...someday...
and when it will .. that would be great... !

(I have been playing around with renoise a bit...
and the response of the gui there is immediate...
of course it's far less of a 'monster' than live has grown up to b...
Doesn't have 'arrange'...
and getting to learn it if you don't have a tracker history takes time....
but its a pretty powerfull /FUN program well worth checkin out...
even in addition to live....very nice modulation options for performing...
still thinking how to encorprate the 2... many options...)

I've used it for rehearsal a lot, and I played 5 shows with the beta. I am gigging with 7 on Saturday and again next month, and using 7 while teaching - all without problems.

Yeah, I know Tension can get a bit feisty. I was planning to set up controllers just to control parameter through a few "safe" ranges that I know don't make any scary noises.

Good to hear it's working well for you Machinate. Any others?

I'm using it for songwriting right now and triggering looping with a foot pedal with no problems. I'm going to perform with it early next month . . .

are the issues with live 7 only associated with the new synths and the novation controllers?? is everything else safe, I'm only intrested in using it as a sampler groove box, the slicer and the drumrack and also the external instrument plug for an external fx box i have and reason, I'm not planning on getting the new instruments at all so are there any issues that users like me should be aware of??

I've tryed to use it with novation remote 25 sl and if the sync option in live is enabled then from time to time when i move a controller on remote i get a pretty long glitch and the live cpu meter stays at 125% or maybe even higher during the glitch. While if the sync option is disabled then there's no problem.

I find it to be glitchy with dropouts and I'm using an axiom and padKontrol.

I played a gig with Machinate last Saturday and everything went smoothly.

That is, I mapped a knob on my BCR2000 to control cutoff on my synth-bass and then learned the hard way that the same knob also controlled Global Quantization... Made for some interesting (awful) loops :D

Hehe. Well as long as you looked like you were doing it deliberately eh? ;)

ok, so a few people are taking the plunge without probs. Any more feedback?

The only issue I have had so far is intermittently apparently variable midi interface latency.

Sometimes is so bad as to push a sound off by nearly a 16th at 130bpm or so.

The odd thing is, I can hit stop a couple of times the play and external synth sounds are back in sync again.

If that wasnt annoying enough, then Ive found times when different ports on the same midi interface box seem to get different latencies.

I set all my external instruments to 10ms latency, which normally has them in perfect sync.

Currently I have no idea what this is linked to. I allways found midi fairly tight in L6.

Live 7 freezes on me intermittently, like once every few hours it will just time warp for about a second and a half, then everything comes back..
