I'm looking for a neat compact pair of active speakers for my home studio. They'll probably be wall mounted and quite close to me.

any opinions?

Genelec 8020 are outstanding for their size. They sound VERY good, but since they have only a 4" Speaker, they are a bit limited with bass and overall loudness.

I need help choosing some cheap-ass small monitors for my setup. I can't afford genelecs at the moment, but i need some speakers becouse i'm getting tired of allways using headphones and my 10€ creative speaker aren't doing the trick.
I've been thinking of Fostex pm0.4's. Only 144€ at Digital Village. Are those any good or should i go with something else? I can't fit big speakers to my setup at the moment so i have to go with as small as possible.

cheap and very decent (not my cup of tea, though but they are good and cheap for the size and quality) and if you can spend a little bit more KRK rokit rp5s

I'm thinking more in the sub 200€ price range I could get pair of genelec 6010 approximetly with the price of those yamaha's but dont have the cash .
I think i'm going to get cheap monitors for now and upgrade to something better when i get more space for my setup (and a bigger budget).

The FostexPM 0.4's are very good for what they cost. Obviously they have limited bass extension and volume (not always a bad thing if you don't have a properly treated room), but I find they sound ok and translate well. You could also add the PM0.5 sub when funds and space allows.
I use mine in combination with a pair of Senn HD600's and I'm pretty happy with the results.

well, some people must be really deaf... the 8020s are in any respect ridiculously good not just for the size... guess some people really need to clean there ears more often? ahhh... well i forgot, the bass, the bass needs to smash your chest in, right~?

Buy cheap buy twice. Save some money I will most likely get some genelics , dynaudio or adams this year

I'm probably the only user here that uses these but take a look at NHT M-00.. i got them as secondary monitors to my mackie's 624's before but I actually ended up using them as my main monitors.. built like tanks and sound phenomenal. NHT is mainly a high end speaker company but more and more people are starting hear about them.. NHT is a very small company and by no means has the ad power like other brands so it's kinda hard to find a review for them or even a demo.. but I've been happy with mine since I got them.. most people compare them to genelec 1029's.. they sell for $500/pair..

I have to see where my budget bends when next months salary hits my account. I dream of genelec 8020s.. My space, acoustics and speaker positioning possibilities are very limited at the moment. Speakers are gonna stand on a shelf little above my face only motu-ultralite-amount of space between them. Of course in a corner of a untreated room. So shitty response, bad stereo imaging and weird echoes to everybody

At such distance,limited space the 6010A set could be enough and these are not so costly.
