Latency & cracks with VSTIs in Ableton

My gear:
Pentium-4 3 GHz
1 GB RAM
SB Audigy 2 NX USB Soundcard (no ASIO)
Windows XP SP2
I have been working in Renoise for quite a lot of time, but recently wanted to try Ableton and encountered a problem.
I open Live 7, load DiscoDSP Discovery VSTi, try to play with my computer keyboard - and hear heavy crackle, like audio buffer is fucking up... Ableton CPU load meter doesn't exceed 10%, so does the system cpu meter. Output latency is default - about 92 ms (let alone it sounds very noticeable), driver - MME/DirectX. Even if I set buffer to maximum (250 ms or more), there are less glitches but they're present.
In Renoise I have latency of 50 ms, and I can open like 6 instances (didn't try more) of Discovery synth and still have no stutter and play them all simultaneously.
Tried also Korg MS-20 VSTI - same cracks in Ableton but fine in Renoise.
What can be a problem?
