Ableton and MIDI from GuitarPro?

hey there,
i've been using guitar pro for a long time, great little tabbing application which tabs multiple tracks to midi sound.. thousands of full songs tabbed out there.. im messing about recording some covers of songs, and alls fine but i'd like to have decent drum parts done..
guitarpro has the drums tabbed, and it is possible to export the track to .midi, i'm wondering if this can be used by ableton to give a drum track on the fly? which i could then change the different sounds etc?
any way to do this, even without ableton..? i could play the drums and record them into ableton as i go, but that step seems superfluous... but i haven't been able to work it out...
