Odd Live Behaviour with Wacom Tablet/Mouse

Hi,
Live 7, OS 10.4.9, G5 Quad, Wacom Intuous2.

I'm contacting Wacom about this, but was just wondering if anyone else with a Wacom tablet had this problem.

I cannot use the Wacom with Ableton Live. Something is totally off with the scaling making it impossible to adjust a fader or drag any rotary control in Live. I can click, drag clips, or any other normal mousing function but I can't control anything. If I try to slide a fader up, it slams up or down, etc. I do have an old Apple Pro optical mouse for use with Live, which works fine, so I can get by.

Of 228 applications on this Mac, and about 350 plug-ins from 30 different manufacturers, Live is the only app that behaves this way. With the exception of Waves RTAS plugs, which I have an intermittent problem with in Pro Tools, but I don't think its related. I could be wrong. Anxious to hear what Wacom has to say about it.

OK, that's odd. I did a forum search before I posted the above and nothing came up when searching for "Wacom". But I just did another search and found a whole mess of activity on this subject! OK, so I'm not alone.

But that doesn't make me feel any better about it!

Hi,

I am having the exact same problem with the Wacom Mouse in Live 7 / Mac OS X Leopard. It is impossible to use Live because all faders/rotary controls are totally acting weird.

Best,
Cam

Can anyone advise if the lack of support for Wacom tablets has been addressed in Live 8?

wacom tablets are supported in Live 8 through the use of a special command entered into the users Options.txt

wacom tablets and absolute positioning devices were not supported in L7 and earlier.

Lovely. Thank you. Great to know! I guess I'll upgrade after all.

Firstly you need to know and understand what options.txt is
http://www.ableton.com/pages/faq/options_text

Secondly you need to use that knowledge to make one (create a text file in the required location), and put this line in it. Exactly as it is presented here

-AbsoluteMouseMode

now open Live, the Wacom will now work correctly on all the dials, faders, other GUI stuff, etc

I just purchased a "small" Intuos4 Wacom tablet, created the options.txt and it works flawlessly!

Thanks for the information!
