Recommend an Affordable Laptop for Performance

I will likely ditch my current Dell 1505 which has been good to me for the past year but it's USB ports seemed to be deficient. It can't handle my Akai MPD24 and so I need a new machine.
I'm aiming for something in the 700-1200 range. I'm open to Apples or PCs. Anything that works.

ADK Pro audio is the best option I've found for PC laptop based music. Great American company
