nope, one folder per install. in my experience (PC) I just run the installer and accept the default locations and everything's peachy. no need to uninstall older versions either.

This is the way i have it set up (pc):

Program files/Music applications/Live7

and inside that folder all the program folders ( Docs, Install, Program, Resources) plus the Library folder

So, i just pasted the 7.0.2 files over the 7.0.1. because i cant really keep two versions of Live inside my laptop. (running out of room).

And it's working fine.

has there ever been such a long change log with bug fixes ?
Yes and no :)
In previous releases we would not have publish a change log on that detailed level. So it is hard to compare to the change log of previous versions.
Not to forget that some of these bugs we fix in Live 7 would be (unfortunately) still present in previous Live versions.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for giving us a more complete change log than in the past for the new 7.0.2 update. I love being able to see the full set of updates.

It's great to see that Ableton really is responsive to all such requests, even the "boring" ones that users like me really appreciate!

cheers!

Nice, did a 3 hour DJ set this afternoon using 7.02, no issues at all, tempo changes and everything. Whew!

Installation Confusion

Post by logic_user99 » Fri Feb 08, 2008 6:19 pm

I am SO confused. My Live installation creates a new folder with each 7.X revision, thus installing the new version rather than overwriting the previous one. Can I delete the previous one?

ALSO! As I upgraded from Live Lite 6, my libraries et all are in the old 'Live Lite 6' folder and not with my Live 7 folder.

Every new version of Live is a new application. This means you can have multiple versions if you want. Some people like to keep around older versions.
Its up to you to decide what you want to delete.

Hey im on Mac OS X and i just wanted to know how to install the update. because there's a new folder (that says to drag to disk). it obviously doesn't rewrite the live folder already on my disk because there definitely named 7.02.
so should i drag it to disk and then delete my old 7.01 folder? but then i have to reinstall all the live suite instrument packs and drum machines into 7.02 . seems like alot of work? is there an easier way to do this?
please any help is much appreciated.
thank you.

Delete the old folder, the settings and libraries are elsewhere and won't be removed.
