I think I may have asked this before, but nobody helped me so here I am again...PLEASE if someone knows how to do this, can you tell me?

I just want to be able do the following:-

1. Record on ONE track something using either Simpler or Impulse, for example a midi keyboard tune utilising the Woodwind tone in Simpler.

2. Then on the SAME track also record (after the first recording, so further into the song) on a SEPARATE clip (but on the SAME track, as I already said) another tune on the keyboard, also in Simpler but using the Synth Pad tone instead of the Woodwind tone.

Is this beyond possibility? It seems simple to me, and yet I have tried to do it in many different ways, and also the same thing happens in Impulse (if I have 2 different clips recorded into one track, using 2 separate presets, whichever one was recorded last will play back for both of them. They will merge into one preset, and won't remain separate of each other).

This obviously is really annoying and it ruins my songs. I spend time carefully recording something in the tone I want, then record another tune in a different tone, then when I play it back, they're both using the same tone!

HOW do you separate them!? (and don't say just use different tracks because for now, I'm stuck with Live Lite and there ARE no more tracks to use. Also, I want to know how to do this for my own knowledge anyway)

if you're stuck for tracks, you should bounce them both as audio clips, and then put them on the same audio channel.

You can create an Instrument rack and put one Simpler on the first chain with the first preset, then load another Simpler to another chain on the same rack with the second preset.

Then go to Chain zone selector in the Instrument rack and set the first Chain to number 0 and the second Chain to number 1.

Then on your track, automate the Chain selector on the Instrument rack so that after your first Simpler played it's stuff, the Chain selector selectes the second chain from the Instrument rack and therefore the second Simpler will be heard.

(Sorry I read your post completely and didn't realize you're using Live Lite, so the advice below doesn't help you)

You can also create three tracks total and load the Simplers to those tracks, one for each and route the first two tracks to the third track. Then you will have one track (the third track) that will output all the sound, but you will have two tracks where the sound is actually generated.

I don't know your setting for the song, but I'd do the latter option, because it's much more simple.

Step by step:
-create three tracks
-1st track: load Simpler with the first sound and select 3rd track as Output
-2nd track: load Simpler with the second sound and select 3rd track as Output
-3rd track: set monitor to "In".
-move the midi clips to the first and second track, both dependending which sound you want them to play
-now you will have the third track outputting all the sounds.
