Audio stuttering after periods of inactivity

Hi guys. I'm getting a problem with Live 7 (Win XP, SBLive! Value), where after leaving my computer for perhaps more than 15 minutes, the next time i attempt to play any audio it stutters and clicks. I'm not sure if it happens with MIDI only projects though...
So yeah, any ideas?

Okay, i think the fact that the problem only began to happen after periods of inactivity was a coincidence. It just happened to me after about 1 hour of solid use.
And i recorded the sound, and noticed the 'stutters' are actually very short (0.01 second) moments of silence, occuring every 0.5 seconds.
And thoughts?

what audio interface do u use???
Do u see HD/CPU overload when the clicks occured...
WHat buffer size do u use?

I just use a SoundBlaster Live! Value (dodgy, i know, but it'll be replaced when i get a new everything).
And nah, that thing doesn't overload when the clicks occur.
The buffer - well, what should it be set at? Input is 5000-odd at the moment, and Output is around 3000. But i don't have a clue what to set these at, so i've just left them.

I dont think this is soundcard related as a wrong setting there would create a consistant problem, not just when leaving live unused for a while.
I get the same stuttering problem when using live for a long time, its seems toatally random and quiting live and reopening the session seems to resolve it. I'm using a mbox and think I've even had it when using a digdiesign 192.

Bugger, okay then. Yeah i've noticed that closing, and re-opening fixes it too
Well, thanks for the help guys

i have a similar problem with my mbox 2 on leopard. the audio doesn't come back at all though until i either restart live or change the output from mbox to internal and back.
MIDI on the other hand seems to work fine now even when the audio is gone.
any news on how to fix this anyone?

This happens to me to sometimes. I also don't know why. It's as if something just triggers it for nothing. The sound can be perfect for anything from 1/2 - 2 hours then all of a sudden: --------------------------.
It does seem to happen less though with the latest live update and also in the midi section of options page I have all midi functions except those necessary switched to off. I also use only what's needed on the stereo input/output section on the options page. I also have Windows on it's most basic settings to keep performance up. This seemed to have somehow improved the situation. Make sure all unnecessary Windows' programs are also off. I find it unbelievable that Windows runs so much shit in the background. I also switch the network off.
I don't know which of these is the culprit but I'm finding that with every little step to improve performance that this nasty incident occurs less frequently.
Next time I'm gonna buy a Mac.

nightmare. i'm running live on a macbook so windows probably isn't the problem. for once. i'm getting the feeling in my case it must be the core audio drivers for the mbox 2. maybe the compatibility issue with leopard. or some other compatibility issue with live 7 and the mbox 2. who knows.
anyway, i started using the internal output of the mac instead and it works fine. no stutter, no dropouts, nothing. i still need the mbox for MIDI cause i'm using a controller pedal for live but that seems to work fine.
i wish digidesign would get a move on with that leopard compatibility upgrade.
