Newbie: Live 6.1.10 crash with MIDI input (Yamaha P140), XP

Hello,

I'm having trouble with my copy of live lite 6.0.10 (downloaded as an update after initially installing 6.0.1). It keeps crashing when I use my keyboard (Yamaha p140) as a MIDI controller. My soundcard is an Audiophile 2496, and I'm using Windows XP (SP2).

I have followed the lessons for connecting MIDI keyboards. I'm not using a USB port, as the Audiophile 2496 has a break-out cable for MIDI. Once I get to the stage of checking if the keyboard is communicating with live, I press a key. Most of the time there is NO little flashing light to indicate MIDI activity. Sometimes the green light will flash, and sometimes it flashes red and the program has to shut down.

I've got to the stage where I've added an instrument to a MIDI track, then played a key. Most of the time nothing happens, but sometimes the signal levels go up (when the light flashes red), and I hear the instrument, but it immediately shuts down.

Any help much appreciated, thanks.
