VST Instruments resetting presets

Help!
For some very strange reason my vst instruments are playing up in Live 7.02.
I select a preset in a vst instrument, tweak some of the parameters and save the song using collect all and save.
When I play the song again the instrument will go to the first preset in its list as soon as I press play.
So I reload the set again without saving and the preset is the one i want but as soon as I press play again...it goes back to the first preset in the list again.
Any ideas?
