Ableton and Novation Nova trouble!

Hi. Im having problems recording CC messages into my arragement in ableton 6. The messages go fine into the session view and create pretty envelopes. The problem occurs when i try record clips from the session into the arrangement and send CC messages from the systh. The sequencer just runs the envelope for that CC message or does nothing if there isnt one. any ideas on how i can make it use the send messages. Thanks
