Freeware Samplers?

Can anybody recommend a decent freeware or shareware sampler? I could do a google search but I thought I'd save some time by asking here.

Take a look at shortcircuit

I can't recommend you any specific freeware sampler but perhaps you should take a look at this list (free sampler / sample player).

Oh, wait. Yellow Tools offers a pretty sophisticated sampler, Independence Free.

The only drawback AFAIK is you can't load your own samples (which is - naturally - a huge drawback)

The Yellow Tools plugin doesnt load or sample audio so basically its just a sound module. I would like to find a freeware sampler for Intel mac as well... For multisampling, Sampler doesnt cut it.
On a side note, does anyone know how to load Akai AKP programs with Ableton Sampler?
