Inconsistent Midi delays

Hey guys,
been experiencing a weird issue with live 7.01. I have a M-Audio Oxygen8 midi controller hooked up (I unplug this from my computer quite often as I bring it along with my mobile rig). Sometime I open up Live and the midi timing is great (I hit a key and I hear the sound right away). Other times, there will be like a 4-5 second delay from when I press the key to when I hear the sound played.
Very weird indeed as I never had any issues with v6. Any else noticing this at all? I've played around with driver compensation, track delay, but because this lag changes randomly its pretty ineffective!
Any info/thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance guys...
