I don't have a CM, but have heard pretty good things about them. You definately want to check out all of them carefully, like the Radikal SK-2, and depending on your software it might sway you to something else. Most of the major sequencer/DAW software companies have a control suface. Also, check out Encore Electronics Knobby and Slidemate -very scaled down boxes but their inexpensive even though they've got some great components in them. Check out AudioMIDI.com -they have a good selection of different controllers out there, some good one's that you don't allways see in the mags.

hi christoph,
i have used the motormix and it is the best controller i know. but it will only be used to its full potential combined with applications that support bi-directional communication. [protools, sounddiver, kyma etc] the application needs to be able send it's parameter settings back to the device. and live does not do that yet...

in future ?

thanks a lot for answer !
do you think the controller function that delivers back the parameter information will be implementated in future ?
yesterday i had a talk with our crew from zenit and everybody said this tool would be used by everyone LIVE when it would have a small midi sequencer - perhaps .. what about it ?
thanks & nice weekend :p

i sure hope so! but currently live does not even support midi out, so bi directional communication is out of the question. still, the motormix makes a great controller for live... it has a very clear layout and the faders and rotary knobs can be switched to different functions in an instant.

yes, but i´ve heard that live has problems with such bi directional communication controllers, although like the doepfer pocket dial with endless rotaris - or does it work right now ?

support for doepfers increment / decrement data protocol has been added in live version 1.1, but this is not the same thing as bi-directional communication.
has anyone tried the pocketdail in inc/dec mode with live?
