A quick one for the vw users out there... i've just been trying it for the first time.

1. the vintage warmer seems to alter my sound even when the switch at the bottom left is set to 'off'. It distorts it a bit. According to the manual this should be bypassing it completely. Tried changing my plugin buffer size, still the same result. Does this happen for anyone else?

2. those of you who regularly use the vintage warmer - do you use it as your sole limiter, or use an ordinary limiter as well? where do you put it in the signal chain, right at the end (e.g. after other mastering plugs) or before?

I've seen it used to compress a drum group, it worked pretty well. The plugin made everything fit together.

I'm not sure about putting it on the output of a mix, as it has a very distinctive effect you don't necessarily want to apply to the whole mix.

I like it, I sometimes use it in the master, but normally turned to about half wet.

It's a strong limiter, that does color the sound, in a distorted tube sort of way if using the presets, which all tend to be heavy handed, but in many cases, nothing else will tame the high end on a track for me. I haven't upgraded to Vintage Warmer 2, but I will eventually.
another plus to me, a lot of compressor/limiters don't do much to synth sounds in my experience, but VM does.
